Welcoming Jonathan Claudius as DEF’s Strategic Security Advisor
July 21, 2026
The DeFi Education Fund (DEF) is happy to announce that Jonathan Claudius, co-founder and CEO of Asymmetric Research, has joined the team as DEF’s new Strategic Security Advisor.
Jonathan will play an integral role in the Open Protocol Security Coalition (OPSeC), as we collectively work to strengthen cybersecurity across blockchain ecosystems and onchain software. Launched in June 2026, alongside the Security Alliance (SEAL) and Asymmetric Research, OPSeC unites protocol teams, security firms, and ecosystem leaders around a shared, chain-agnostic commitment to cybersecurity, transparency, and collaboration. OPSeC will amplify and coordinate the industry’s proactive efforts to improve security by curating free cybersecurity resources, hosting educational events, engaging with policymakers and regulators, and much more.
In this advisory role for DEF, Jonathan will help shape OPSeC’s strategic direction and priorities, ensuring the coalition’s efforts have the greatest impact. He will help convene and coordinate the security experts and contributors, and lend his expertise to curating and developing the practical resources (i.e., audits, trainings, war games, and other ongoing measures) that teams can adopt to strengthen their defenses.
Jonathan exemplifies the high-caliber of OPSeC members. With more than two decades in cybersecurity, Jonathan previously served as Chief Security Officer at Jump Crypto, Director of Security Assurance at Mozilla, and Lead Security Researcher at Trustwave SpiderLabs. At Asymmetric Research, the firm he leads today, he works closely with L1 and L2 blockchains and DeFi protocols across research, incident response, engineering, and infrastructure.
We are grateful to Jonathan for lending his time and expertise to this effort, and we are excited about the impact OPSeC will make under his insightful guidance.
